I have a Canon sd700is but it only zooms to 4x optical. (Don’t chime in on the worthless digital zoom feature.) I thought I saw one from Kodak last week?
I’m looking to buy a new digital camera. Something a little nicer than a traditional point and shoot but not quite an SLR. I was looking at 1. Nikon Coolpix L110 2.Canon Powershot Sx120 3. Canon Powershot G11 4. Panasonic DMC-FZ28 — or any other suggestions. Picture quality is one of the most important factors to me. I am looking to spend around 0-400. Does anyone have any opinions on these? Thanks!!
I have a Canon SX210 point & shoot with 14 X optical zoom, and 4X digital zoom for a max of 56X combined, and it is 14 megapixels. I doubt that a picture would come out very well at 56X, but how about 28X or somewhere thereabouts?
Hey guys! I am looking for a decently priced 12-15X optical zoom digital camera (Nikon/ Canon/ Sony). I’m a bit confused in making a choice. Which one would be the best choice, along with being pocket-friendly? Thanks…
I am looking for a digital camera with lots of zoom for under 0. I trust Canon but their zoom is rather small. Smaller is better as I have lost a few fingertips. Any ideas?
i have the Canon PowerShot A650IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom — and its going to be the first time im bringin it to a concert…do you think ill get good pictures if im sitting further away from the stage.
hi everyone, i just came back from vacation. when i went to my destination, my family and i went to a zoom. many of the animals were small and i used my digital zoom to capture the pictures of them in action. I have a great canon sd630. its a six megapixel camera with a 3x optical and 12 x total digital/optical zoom. i wanted to send my images to be printed but i know many of them will come out poorly because i used the 12x digital zoom over and over again. the pictures look clear and crisp on the camera but i know i many have complcations. what size should i have these images printed at? 4×6 may be too large for these images.
This was described as “The Largest Moon of the year” on 1/10/09 due to the moon being full and it’s at it’s closest proximity to the earth. This is the Moon with the HG20 on a Tripod and zoomed in to just under 40x with the camera set to 40x digital zoom. The camera is also set to aperture priority, set to F8 with a -8 exposure. This turned out to be a bit under exposed and I adjusted brightness, contrast & saturation in processing. The camera was set to 30p. Also, there’s a bit of astrophysics going on here. As you can see, the moon moves through the frame. The camera was still on the tripod for the entire shoot. The moving moon is due to the moon’s orbit and rotation of the earth. It only takes just over 5 minutes to move through the frame at this zoom level.
I currently have a Canon Rebel 2000 film camera and a Vivitar 100 – 400 mm zoom lens and would like a digital camera and zoom lens with similar quality. I use my camera for taking pictures of birds and other animals, so I need a good telephoto lens. I feel overwhelmed by all the brands and do not understand the difference between digital and optical zoom. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Canon PowerShot A95 and it has a 12x Optical and Digital zoom combined but to me, it doesn’t zoom very far at all. What is better…..a 3x optical zoom or a 12x optical zoom?? Which will zoom farther? What are maybe some cameras that will zoom really far?
It just says 12x Optical and Digital combined. I’m not sure if that means both are 12x or not. I just know that I’ve stood next to people at concerts over 150 feet from the stage. They have these little slim Kodak pocket cameras it seems and they are able to zoom all the way up on stage and get close up shots. My PowerShot will only zoom halfway to the stage and probably costs twice as much. idk, it’s just frusturating.
