I need help choosing a NICE digital Camera with ZOOM lens?

I would like to invest in a really good digital camera with a zoom lens. The camera will be used quite often for sporting events—-so the ability to shoot moving objects is critical. I also will need a zoom lens since I will be shooting distant figures. (Ice Hockey–Football) I would like to spend around 1200 I guess but I am flexible–more or less is ok. THANK YOU!!!

Yes the D40 with a telephoto zoom will be a good choice.

I just bought a Nikon D40X…..and you can buy extra lenses to suit your purpose
